Join us as we explore traditional Rhône varieties planted by American winters. We'll be pouring the 2017 Mourvèdre from Rootdown Wine Cellars and El Dorado, a 2017 Counoise from the Winters Winery, both of which are harvested in the Sierra Foothills.
Both savory and spicy, Mourvèdre is fresh, full of energy combining notes of dark fruit and more subtle fruit like rhubarb and cranberry.
We like to think of Counoise as Mourvèdre's shy little sister. Once it opens, you'll enjoy notes of plum, strawberry and caramel with a little bit of earth. Light to medium bodied, it's a delightfully surprising food pairing wine.
These are some of Hannah's (our beverage director) favorite wines as their process centers around minimal intervention, quality over quantity and honoring tradition while pushing for exploration.
